Why should it be so difficult to locate useful and important information? This question was the beginning of the beginning and led to the establishment of Scan4news on 17th January 2005. The story began in 2004 when some staff at Hedmark University College attempted to locate a supplier who could assist them in searching the Internet for new and relevant educational information. There was no shortage of suppliers but none of the services were up to standard.
The idea behind Scan4news was conceived in an encounter between information science and technology in the offices of Hedmark University College. Frode Iversen, Head of Information, knew what he wanted and developer Martin Sæta from the IT department was able to bring the ideas to fruition through advanced programming. Together, they were dynamite.
In October 2005, after nearly one year of hard work, the first version of OptiNews, our search robot, was ready to be launched. A short while later, the first client contracts were signed. The most important thing for us is what happens after a contract has been signed. From this moment, we strive to ensure that our clients are satisfied. We are proud of the fact that everyone who purchased search services from us in 2005 is still a subscription client (December 2010).
Scan4news is different. We have developed advanced search technology but do not sell technology. We sell useful information that this advanced technology procures for our clients.
Our products and services are easy to use. However, simplicity does not come easily. Behind our solutions lie advanced technology and highly skilled employees who strive every day to extend the boundaries of technology and content services.
The best solutions are created at the point where technology and expertise intersect. Our solutions are formulated in an encounter between technologists and media personnel. Our strength lies in a combination of advanced technology and a whole range of cutting edge skills.
We create useful products and services that are exclusive to us. Maybe this is because we are different from the rest.
